Fees

It was tempting not to have this section. We’d like to think that no one will ever
hire us on price alone. But we suspect you’d like an indication of what some of
the solutions we describe elsewhere on this site might cost.
 
Please understand that this section tries to cover a very wide range of projects,
encompassing all sorts of unique features. After all, that is what our consultancy
offers. But if you have an idea what your potential business improvement is worth,
then the cost of achieving it is very relevant.
 
For a project that involves a round of workshops, consulting with perhaps 20-40
people, and which requires off site analysis followed by reporting, typical project
costs range from $20,000-$50,000.
 
Where we undertake more than one round of consultation, perhaps in a process
redesign exercise, project costs may well run above $100,000. The larger the project,
the harder it is to put a price range on it as variables like process complexity,
geographical scatter and degree of detail all have a major bearing.
 
For a facilitated workshop, our fees tend to range between $3,000 and $15,000,
again depending on what you need.
 
Many projects start with a pilot, a chance for a client to explore the problem a
bit more, put a value on the benefits, and take a close look at us. If there is
any uncertainty about the work, we like to start with a pilot, and have an approach
that delivers useful outcomes for between $5,000 and $10,000.
 
We prefer to enter into fixed price contracts rather than time and materials,
though we will recommend a daily fee basis if there is real uncertainty about
the scope. Where the scope is well defined and we have a common sense approach
to the management of the project, we are happy to carry the risk of misjudging
the project size. We’ll flag the conditions to this – typically they cover getting
access to your staff, no late changes to scheduled events, and keeping to scope.
 
At the end of the day we’re not happy till you are, so we will work with you to
understand your needs before we quote, and then keep in close touch as the
work proceeds to make sure that the scope, price and outcomes stay aligned.
